Delhi, India
From the Harappan cities and megalithic burials to early historic port towns and medieval temple sites, South Asia holds some of the world's most important archaeological records. Many of the field's key projects have been international collaborations, and archaeology departments abroad want researchers who know the region, its languages and its institutions. A PhD in Archaeology abroad suits graduates in archaeology, ancient Indian history, anthropology, geology, geography and the sciences. It combines fieldwork, lab analysis and interpretation. Indian applicants with excavation experience, knowledge of permit systems and regional languages are well placed.
